Baker, Line Cook, Barista, Front of House

LuLu’s is a cooperatively owned bakery/cafe. We anticipate opening our retail space early-to-mid October and need to bring on 2-3 people who are interested in this being a long term workplace. We are serious (but fun) about the work we do, crafting many things from scratch, and expect new team members to carry that same attitude into this work. We value creativity and working without taking shortcuts even if it means we are slower in the beginning. What is a cooperative workplace? For us at LuLu’s it means we are worker-owned; the people you work with (and potentially yourself) own this business. Real ownership, not just a share handed down by a boss. We will discuss the path to ownership in detail during interviews. For a good example of the ownership model we are pursuing check out the Arizmendi Association of Cooperatives based in the Bay Area: http://arizmendi.coop/

We believe most team members will learn nearly every task. While we will have our favorites it will be vital that each of us has an understanding of how all the elements work. We are currently strong in baking, cooking, and front of house. We would love to find a strong barista who is interested in or has experience with the back of house.

Currently we maintain a booth at the Cooper-Young Farmers Market & will continue as long as we can. This is a major source of revenue for us and a major source of first-time experience for many customers. You may be asked to staff this booth on occasion. This can also serve as good training time while we prepare for the cafe opening.
